Krishna
Tirumal Mundargi

The women in red, green, orange saris tied jasmine strings to the four white cotton ropes by which the rosewood cradle hung from the ceiling. A bright fluorescent tube illuminated all of them and the cradle with velvet bed and rose-petals. A woman in a blue sari stepped out of the adjoining room with the baby in beige jodhpurs on her shoulder, placed the baby onto the velvet bed. The women encircled the cradle and the blue sari women crooned in the baby's ear, "Krishna, Krishna!"
